Southwest Athletes Compete at SHSAA Track & Field
The SHSAA provincial track and field championships were held in Prince Albert on June 1 & 2, with athletes dealing with cool and rainy conditions through the competition. Over 1470 athletes competed from across the province with 91 athletes plus coaches representing the Southwest. Athletes competed in the midget, junior and senior categories in both individual events as well as relays.Rhett Vavra of Swift Current Comp was named the midget boys aggregate winner with Scott Joseph 2nd in the junior boys aggregate. Overall, the SCCHS won the 4A school title.
Rhett Vavra of the SCCHS captured the midget boys aggregate at the SHSAA provincial track & field championships. Rhett won gold in triple jump, silver in the 200m, 400m and long jump. He was also on the midget boys relay team that received bronze and the 4 x 400m relay team that finished 4th.
