Safe Places Reaches 1000
The Safe Places initiative in Swift Current continues to gain momentum as 1000 individuals are now certified through the program. The concept involves taking an online course through Respect in Sport along with a background check through the RCMP and once all is clear an individual receives a Safe Places certification card. This in turn advises potential sports teams and other organizations coming in contact with youth that these individuals have been screened and are deemed safe to work with youth. Further information on the Safe Places program is available on line www.SafePlacesSK.ca
Brandi Bitz is the 1000th individual to be Safe Places certified and Nathan Wiebe of The Centre is recognized an Ambassador for the initiative. The announcement was made during a press conference his afternoon in Swift Current.
