Fire Ban Continues for Several Provincial Parks
Due to extreme fire hazards, the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport has issued a restriction on all open fires in Buffalo Pound, Cypress Hills, Danielson, Douglas and Saskatchewan Landing provincial parks and surrounding recreation sites. All open fires in these locations are prohibited.
Self-contained portable gas heating devices and fire pits, barbecues, pressurized stoves, and charcoal briquettes will be permitted for cooking and heating purposes at park discretion for the duration of the ban.
For a complete list of provincial parks and recreation sites affected by these restrictions, visit www.saskatchewan.ca/fire-ban. These restrictions will remain in effect until public notification by the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport.
Travellers and outdoor enthusiasts are encouraged to support fire suppression efforts by respecting any road closures, carrying a fire extinguisher in vehicles, and avoiding unnecessary idling. Report any fires observed in these parks by calling Park Watch toll free at 1-800-667-1788. If a fire appears to be out of control, call 911.
