City of Swift Current to Operate Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame
Mayor and Council voted in favor of a report presented by the General Manager of Community Services last night for the City to take over the operation of the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame. The City and the board for the SHHOF have signed a 10 year agreement, where the board will pay the City an annual operating grant of $35,000, plus $5,000 for annual maintenance and a capital repayment plan for the balance of the construction costs of the facility in the value of $350,000- in five equal installments of $70,000 per year through January 1, 2021. The City will staff, promote and market the SHHOF using its expert resources including museum exhibit staff and iplex facility maintenance staff to maintain the space.
