City of Swift Current Residents Prepare for a Tax Increase
City Council tabled their $50 million budget yesterday. Municipal Property Taxes will increase by 3%, which translates to a $20 hike annually per household. Highlights include spending on infrastructure - residential lots, Battleford Trail and Water Treatment - as well as capital investments over the next five years. Some of these investments are a new firehall in 2010, extensive renovations to the Art Gallery/Library in 2011 and a new soccer/aquatic centre in 2012.
Mayor Sandy Larson said that infrastructure was the highlight of the budget for her. She is determined Swift Current better prepare itself for the growth in the years to come. For full details, watch Friday's show.
